Renowned for her innovative contributions to cloud security and vulnerability management, Mariam Sanusi brings a wealth of global experience and technical excellence to the table. Her appointment to the judging panel highlights Dratech’s continued commitment to spotlighting African professionals who are shaping the future of technology through groundbreaking work, leadership, and mentorship.
A Proven Track Record in Cybersecurity Excellence
Mariam Sanusi holds a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Caleb University in Nigeria. Her academic achievements are further reinforced by globally respected certifications, including the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, (ISC)² Certified in Cybersecurity, and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
Her career has seen her take on pivotal roles at leading organizations, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), where she developed and implemented an Automated AMI Management Solution with Integrated Vulnerability Scanning. The project, which was lauded for its innovation and scalability, earned her the Dratech Cybersecurity Innovation Award in 2023. The solution addressed a critical gap in cloud security—automating the lifecycle of machine images and integrating real-time threat detection through AWS Inspector.
Mariam also served as a Cybersecurity Analyst at American Airlines, where she facilitated audit remediation efforts, implemented access control solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP, and worked with Sonrai Security tools to enhance cloud security visibility. Earlier in her career at SystemSpecs, she successfully led a vulnerability reduction initiative that decreased security threats by 90% through proactive assessments and automation.
